Sydney G.
Hi! I am Sydney Golden, I am an elementary school teacher here in Steamboat! I am originally from Riverside, California and I ended up in Steamboat Springs after wanting to move out of California and try something new. Now that I have been living here I love it and will never leave!
I got my undergrad from the University of Maryland where I also played division one softball. I then moved to teach and work on my masters with Teach for America. I lived in Las Vegas for 2 years doing this until finishing my masters in Education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I traveled back to spend a few years in California teaching at a Montessori Elementary School. During this time I received my Montessori certifications. I currently hold Special Education in Montessori and Upper Elementary Montessori certifications from CGMS and my Lower Elementary Montessori certification from NAMC.
On top of 7 years in the classroom I have done many other works with children. I coached girls in softball for the last 10 years both individually and teams. I spent 2 years helping coach boys football and basketball. I ran and supported a robotic league team for children for the past 3 years. I also worked 2 summer camps supporting and helping children grow.
Three fun facts about me are that I train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, I love to read, and I have two dogs that are basically my children. I absolutely love working with children as the joy they bring to this world is incredible. Some of my favorite things to do with kids include imaginary play, arts and crafts and of course any sports of any kind.
