Georgia G.
My name is Georgia Grellier and I am a Pre-K teacher and former ski instructor who loves caring for children. I grew up in Connecticut and came to Colorado Springs for college before moving to Breckenridge, where I was a children's ski instructor. I am currently based in Boulder but I spend as much time as I can at a family house in Steamboat, which means most weekends and school breaks.
I graduated from Colorado College in 2020 with a BA in English Literature. In my current role as an ECT-certified Pre-K teacher, I have completed trainings in safe sleep, trauma-informed care, and multiple social-emotional learning models (Pyramid Plus, Conscious Discipline, and ECERS). I also hold current Red Cross Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid certifications. I speak some Spanish and have worked extensively with non-English speaking children.
In addition to 15 years of babysitting experience, my professional childcare experience includes camp counseling, teaching ski school, and now teaching Pre-K. During my eight summers as a camp counselor, I worked with children and adolescents ages 6-16, including directing the 16-year-old counselor-in-training program. As a ski instructor at Breckenridge, I primarily taught children ages 3-6, although I occasionally taught older kids and adults as well. My current role as a teacher involves managing a classroom of 18 four and five-year-olds and ensuring that my students leave Pre-K with the pre-academic and social-emotional skills they need to thrive in Kindergarten and beyond. I have previously also taught classes of two, three, and four year olds, and occasionally help out in the 1.5-2 year old class.
In my personal life, I have always loved to ski and some of my favorite memories are of skiing with my family as a child. These days, I still ski regularly and have recently gotten into skinning with my dog! I also enjoy hiking, sailing, and I am slowly learning to snowboard.
When with my nanny charges, I love inventing games, playing, and reading aloud. One of my favorite games to bring with me is Bananagrams because it works for so many ages—older kids often enjoy playing the game as designed, while younger ones can have just as much fun rearranging letters and making up new words. As a lifeguard, I am especially comfortable bringing kids to pools that may be in their hotels or at their houses so that they can splash and race. There is always something fun to do when you mix adult creativity and child-directed play!
