Hi, sweet families! My name is Carey and I hail from a small town in Southwest Georgia, called Moultrie. I grew up on a farm with a big family, lots of animals, and a whole lot of love. I am the oldest of 4 kids which thrusted me into a nurturing, caregiver role from a young age. I moved across the country to Steamboat Springs in 2023 after completing a Master’s degree in Health Administration because I wanted a small mountain town where I could find my community. I attended the University of Georgia for both graduate and undergraduate school. During my undergraduate career, I was fortunate enough to work at a preschool learning center with children aged 6mo to 4 years old. I facilitated their learning and creativity by creating activities based on their unique needs that supported their personal journey. I provided emotional support when needed and promoted open dialogue with the children. I loved playing outside and being silly with the children.
I mentored young men and women through an after school program in college, and consistently nannied for multiple families while in school - families with 4 kids, 2 kids, and infants. My top priority is the children’s safety. I hold CPR and BLS certifications and a certificate in disaster management/ emergency preparedness. During my graduate program, I had an internship where our organization went to the 8 counties in our service area and taught school-aged children CPR, AED, and nutritional courses.
Three fun facts about me are that I love to snowboard, hiking is one of my favorite pastimes, and I try to learn something new everyday. For example, right now I am in the process of learning Spanish, so if your kids are learning Spanish as well, we could work on that together. Some activities I enjoy doing with children include coloring, exploring/playing treasure hunt, and singing/dancing to music.
